Ontario artist LOONY has dropped a characteristically charismatic new single in the form of ‘Old Friends’. She fills the track with stacks of Motown-inspired harmonies that feel thick and epic as they punch their way through her warm, poppy textures. Synths collide with bright hi-hats to create a sunny accompaniment to her effortless vocal. “Sometimes, when it’s all over, you never talk to that person again. Other times, time passes, and you find yourself absent-mindedly smiling thinking of them or even reaching out to see how life’s treating them,” she says, of the track’s lyrical inspiration. “But it’s not like it was before - it’s platonic now.
